How the calculation works
- The hours per project now: drawing the isometric drawings, compiling the bill of materials and making the cost estimate.
- Each of these is reduced by the assumption that belongs to it.
- The hours saved per project, multiplied by the number of projects per year and the hourly rate, give the labour cost saved.
- Material: the material cost per project, multiplied by the share that is ordered in excess or reordered, by the assumption for less excess material and by the number of projects.
- The licence cost: the Engineer and Fitter licences at the official prices, for twelve months.
- The net result: labour cost saved plus material cost saved, minus the licence cost.
The assumptions
- Fewer hours for isometric drawings. Drawing sheets with dimensions, bill of materials and title block are generated from the 3D model. The model itself is still drawn, and that time remains part of the hours.
- Fewer hours for the bill of materials. The bill of materials follows from the model, including flanges, gaskets and bolt sets, with export to XLSX and CSV.
- Fewer hours for the cost estimate. The estimate uses the bill of materials with the article file and the price list of the company. Norms and rates are indicative and are checked by the user.
- Less excess material. Quantities come from the model instead of being counted from drawings.
The default values are an example, not a measured result. The outcome is an indication for the own situation.
Frequently asked questions
Is anything stored or sent?
The calculation runs in the browser. Nothing is stored or sent, unless the result is requested by email.
What happens with the email address?
The result and the assumptions are sent to the address. FlowCAD3D may contact the sender about the calculation; unsubscribing is possible at any time.
Why is the licence cost part of the calculation?
The net result shows the saving after the cost of the licences, based on the official prices: Engineer € 169 and Fitter € 119 per user per month, excluding VAT.
