FlowCAD3D for work preparers and engineers
The piping is drawn once in 3D. Isometric drawings, drawing sheets, the bill of materials and the cost estimate follow from the model.
Drawing in 3D
- Pipes are drawn exactly in X, Y and Z: absolute, relative, by length and direction, or polar, with ortho, snap step, levels and slope. The angle guide helps to draw at any angle.
- Elbows (90° and 45°) are placed automatically. A branch gets a tee or a reducing tee, and a line continues from any open connection.
- Components have their real face-to-face lengths; flanges, gaskets and bolt sets are added automatically.
- Isometric drawing: drawing and editing on a live isometric, while the 3D model is built at the same time.
- Between two points, route variants are calculated automatically and checked for clashes.
- Equipment with nozzles: storage tank, pressure vessel, horizontal vessel, heat exchangers (shell-and-tube and plate) and centrifugal pump.
Drawing sheets and bill of materials
- Isometric drawings, also per spool, plus views, sections and detail views, with automatic dimensions, elevation marks, bill of materials and a title block from A4 up to and including A0 with the company logo.
- Labels and dimensions are placed legibly automatically; free dimensioning is also possible.
- Drawing groups, revision comparison and revision clouds.
- Export to DXF (R12), SVG and PDF; the bill of materials to XLSX and CSV.
Specifications and checks
- Specifications (piping classes) warn or block when a component does not match.
- Line numbers and a line list with medium, pressure, temperature and insulation.
- Clash detection for pipes, components, equipment, reference models, insulation and clearance, with a clickable list.
- Central validation with errors, warnings and information.
Cost estimate
The cost estimate uses the article file and the price list of the company: material, installation hours (inch-dia) and surcharges, with a quotation to print or save as PDF. The norms and rates are indicative and are checked by the user.
Working with the fitter
- Projects on the project board, with the phases New, Drawing in progress, To be reviewed, Work preparation, Fabrication, Installation and Completed.
- A drawing submitted by a fitter is reviewed: approved, or returned to the fitter with a comment.
- Notifications at every step of the process.
Exchange with other programs
- Import: IFC (IFC2x3 and IFC4) and STEP assemblies as a reference model, a line list from XLSX or CSV, and STEP and IGES components from suppliers and customers.
- Export: PCF for ISOGEN and other programs, STEP AP214 with exact solids, OBJ, GLB, USDZ and DXF.
Frequently asked questions
Does FlowCAD3D need to be installed?
No. FlowCAD3D works in the web browser on the computer, the tablet and the phone. Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge is recommended; Firefox and Safari are also supported.
Which standards does the component library cover?
The library contains about 650 components from standard data sets: ASME B16.9, B16.5, B16.10 and B36.10M, and EN 10253, EN 1092-1, EN 558 and ISO 1127. Own components are made with the 3D modeller or imported from STEP and IGES files.
Which licence does a work preparer need?
An Engineer licence: € 169 per user per month, excluding VAT, cancellable per month.
Can several people work on one drawing?
Drawings in the cloud have versions and a lock: one person edits at a time. Colleagues add comments and walk through the 3D model together with Walk together.
